Java example program to get epoch time of windows

Epoch is used to compare dates with the some other dates or dates with the other time format mathematically. That's why it is being used through out the whole programming world.

We can get epoch time in java using the system's current time. The windows epoch is the number of seconds that have elapsed since January 1, 1601. Here is the full example code of GetEpochTimeWindows.java as follows:

GetEpochTimeWindows.java

import java.util.Calendar;
import java.text.SimpleDateFormat;

public class GetEpochTimeWindows {
    public static void  main(String arg[]) {
    try{
      // Getting the current epoch time
      long epoch = System.currentTimeMillis()/1000;
      System.out.println("Epoch time =>"+ epoch);
      //  Convert from Readable date to epoch
      System.out.println("Parsed date=>"
       new
SimpleDateFormat ("dd/MM/yyyy HH:mm:ss")
       .parse
("01/01/1601 00:00:00"));
    }catch(Exception e){
      System.out.println(e.getMessage());
    }
  }
}

 Output of the program :

C:\javaexamples>javac GetEpochTimeWindows.java

C:\javaexamples>java GetEpochTimeWindows
Epoch time =>1224506823
Parsed date=>Mon Jan 01 00:00:00 GMT+05:30 1601
