Core Enterprise JavaBeans (EJB) offer a simplified model for server-side Java development.
The EJB server can take on much of the responsibility for persistence, transactions, pooling database connections etc. This course is based on the EJB 1.1 specification and a discussion of the features recently standardized for EJB 2.0. EJB 2.0 features may be demonstrated and used in the exercises subject to availability of compliant implementations.
The case studies provided in the course are incremental, building up to a complete solutions in which several sessions and entity beans collaborate. The final result is a model on which to base future EJB developments. The hands-on exercises are designed to reinforce the ideas of component-based software and demostrate the separation of roles between developers assemblers and deployers of enterprise solutions. Upon completion of the course, participants will have both the theoretical knowledge and practical experience to use EJB to design quality enterprise systems.
