Java Beans and the role they play in the overall J2EE platform. Examples are provided using JBuilder and Borland Enterprise Server. Topics to be covered include the EJB container and the types of EJBs available such as Session Beans (stateless vs. stateful), Entity Beans (the power of CMP and CMR), and Message-driven Beans (the freedom of asynchronous processing). Also covered are new features introduced by J2EE 1.4, JNDI/JNDI ENC, resource management via the container, and transactions. Specifically, we cover exceptions and the transactional contex.
