JointLogic Web Designer

JointLogic Web Designer is an Eclipse plug-in that consists of two components - HTML Designer and CSS Designer.

HTML Designer provides WYSIWYG authoring of HTML and XHTML documents and fragments with support for embedding several server-side scripting and template languages - currently Apache Velocity Template Language, PHP, Ruby and ASP. HTML Designer provides authoring facilities like Toolbox, DOM inspector and Properties view. It integrates with CSS Designer to provide rich authoring of in-line CSS and embedded style sheets. HTML Designer integrates with Eclipse Web Tools Platform (WTP) for HTML source editing and with Eclipse PHP development tools (PDT) for PHP editing.

CSS Designer provides CSS authoring facilities like CSS Styles view, CSS declaration designer with preview and web-oriented color picker. It integrates with Eclipse Web Tools Platform (WTP) to allow CSS authoring while editing CSS, HTML and JSP files.

HTML Designer key features

  1. WYSIWYG authoring powered by Mozilla engine

  2. Server-side scripting and template languages embedding - Apache Velocity, PHP, Ruby embedding (eRuby) and ASP. Uses a state-of-the-art technology to preserve embedded server-side language elements from being escaped or removed by Mozilla engine

  3. Integrates with Eclipse PHP development tools (PDT)

  4. HTML and XHTML authoring

  5. Authoring of fragments (incomplete documents)

  6. Retain original HTML source formatting and Reformat modes

  7. DOM Inspector

  8. Property (attribute) editing

  9. Rich authoring of inline CSS and embedded style sheets with CSS Designer

CSS Designer key features

  1. Integrates with Eclipse Web Tools Platform (WTP) to allow CSS authoring while editing CSS, HTML and JSP files

  2. The CSS Styles view allows you to view, create and delete style sheets and style rules

  3. CSS declaration designer facilitates style authoring by semantically grouped property editing controls

  4. Allows to create and delete style sheets and style rules directly in HTML files

  5. Preview directly in the CSS declaration designer dialog

  6. Web-oriented color picker - allows you to pick from HTML, SVG, system and web-safe colors and to use the system color picker for
    custom colors

Requirements:

  1. Operating system - Windows or Linux (Linux version is still in Beta!)

  2. JRE 1.4.2 or newer

  3. Eclipse 3.1 with WTP 1.0 or Eclipse 3.2/Callisto with WTP 1.5 or Eclipse 3.3/Europa with WTP 2.0
