  1. What is the Cable  Modem?
This Cable Modem tutorial is designed to answer most questions about Cable Modems and the associated technology. Somehow I just got tired explaining the same stuff again and again. Now it is on-line and we can start our conversation at a level past the most basic stuff.  Proprietary systems. Not based on widely accepted standards. Cable Modems from different vendors does not work on the same CMTS/Head-End. This includes among others the first Com21 systems.

  2. The books on computer Networking
The classic reference in the field for anyone who wants to understand Internet technology, Volume I surveys TCP/IP and describes each component. The highly accessible text presents the scientific principles used in the construction of TCP/IP, and shows how the components were designed to work together. It covers details of each protocol, including ARP, IP, TCP, UDP, RIP, DHCP, OSPF and others. It also covers technologies such as Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS), Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) and Network Address Translation (NAT). The text shows, for example, how TCP's slow start algorithm interacts with the Partridge-Karn exponential retransmission backoff, and how routing updates interact with datagram forwarding.

  3. Introduction of  Interrupts
When receiving data and change in status from I/O Ports, we have two methods available to us. We can Poll the port, which involves reading the status of the port at fixed intervals to determine whether any data has been received or a change of status has occurred. If so, then we can branch to a routine to service the ports requests. As you could imagine, polling the port would consume quite some time. Time which could be used doing other things such refreshing the screen, displaying the time etc. A better alternative would be to use Interrupts. Here, the processor does your tasks such as refreshing the screen, displaying the time etc, and when a I/O Port/Device needs attention as a byte has been received or status has changed, then it sends a Interrupt Request (IRQ) to the processor.

  4. Cisco Certified Network Associate Study Guide
Cisco dominates the inter networking hardware market with a more than 80 per cent share of the routers used on the Internet. The Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification is the first-tier certification in Cisco's Network Support and Communications & Services tracks and by far its most popular. Cisco continues to add new questions to the item pool, thus making it even more necessary for courseware providers to keep their content up to date. This 5th edition provides general updates that reflect technology developments over the past year, and offers expanded coverage on key topics reflected in the current version of the exam.
