Kunlun Shan mountains border north
Soaring peaks that bathe in cloud
Man and beast trek back and forth
Himalaya, standing proud

Fierce torrents fed from snow
Yellow River, fleet and swift
Religion keeps the status quo
Himalaya, natures gift

On broad green valleys, nomadic man
Through solid earth and barren land
Herds his cattle, sheep and lamb
Himalaya, proud and grand

Snow-capped mountains fringe the plain
Where wild yak roam to and fro
Braving climate, wind and rain
Himalaya, friend and foe

Wild sheep graze mountain meadows
Crispy air pollution free
Swiftly eastwards, Yangtze flows
Himalaya, tranquillity
